First Asia was borne out of a commitment made to one person. Because of the far-reaching impacts of unemployment, many Filipinos have had to help not only themselves but also their families and extended families in searching for jobs. A promise of continuous employment made to a former welder became another promise made to his teenage son, then later on to brothers, cousins, uncles and nephews as well. The reality of poverty forebodes, and millions live with the threat of unemployment every day, but the resilience and optimism of the Filipino worker shall prevail.
