The First Gen Corporation Story

First Gen Corporation is a power generation company under the Lopez Group of Companies – the same Group that holds ABS-CBN Corporation, Rockwell Land Corporation, and more. Ever since our establishment in 1998, First Gen has remained committed to its mission: to forge collaborative pathways towards a decarbonized and regenerative future. We are currently the largest producer of renewable energy in the country, powering 21% of the Philippines with clean energy. We run on absolutely zero % coal power, producing 3,668.2 megawatts of electricity only through 100% clean energy produced by our wind and solar farms, hydro and geothermal power plants, and our natural gas-fired power plants all across the country.

First Gen implements various corporate social responsibility and community relations projects as part of efforts to help develop and improve the quality of life of residents in the host communities and promote their level of self-reliance. These activities focus on: 1) environment, 2) education, 3) community health and safety, 4) livelihood, 5) sociocultural, and 6) disaster response and relief. Recruitment Process

Our recruitment team is committed to ensuring a professional, timely, and seamless application process for all candidates. With such a monumental goal of achieving a decarbonized and regenerative future, we want to make sure that we select the right people for our roles – people who excel in their work and whose values align with the company’s.

For full-time, entry-level roles, the recruitment process can take up to 9 weeks. For interns, the recruitment process can take up to 3-4 weeks. 

1 ) APPLICATION

Interested applicants for full-time roles can check our website for the latest news and vacancies. Candidates who apply through our Prosple page will first be screened by our recruiters. Should you pass the screening, you can expect a call instructing you to apply on our website’s “Careers'' page.

For those seeking internship opportunities with us, you may check our Prosple page for the latest openings. Inquiries may also be sent through our LinkedIn.

For candidates who obtain our recruiters’ contact details through career fairs or university events, you are encouraged to directly reach out to us and send your most updated CV or resume. 

2 ) SELECTION

Once you begin your application process with us, our recruiters will assess your background experience and skills to determine your fit with the requirements of our open roles. You can expect a call or email regarding the next steps if you pass the screening.

For full-time roles, candidates will move on to the next step of an initial interview with one of our recruiters. Should you pass, you will then move on to a technical interview with the hiring manager or a panel interview with the manager and their team members. These interviews may be conducted either through video conference or face-to-face meetings.

For internship roles, candidates will be interviewed by the intern supervisor/hiring manager only after completing our online assessment.

3 ) ASSESSMENT & TESTING

For both full-time and internship roles, candidates must accomplish an online assessment that measures their skills in verbal communication, logical reasoning,  and numerical reasoning. This assessment will also measure the candidate’s personality and contains a short video interview portion.

For full-time roles, there may also be additional tests or stages in the recruitment process, such as:

  • Skills Test - this would be integrated with the online assessment, intended to measure the candidate’s skills in a particular field (ie. Engineering, Sales, Accounting, etc).
  • Business Case Presentation - our candidates for our Analyst roles may be expected to go through this stage in order to showcase the skills relevant to the role (ie. critical thinking, communication, strategy & planning, etc). This short presentation will be conducted face-to-face where the candidate will have the opportunity to receive direct feedback from the hiring manager.

4 ) REFERENCE AND BACKGROUND CHECKS

This process is only applicable to full-time applicants. We will be asking for at least three (3) character and reference checks from your network (ie. professor/academic advisor, former internship supervisor/coordinator, etc) to further assess your previous experience and skills. 

Through these background checks, we will also be able to verify the validity of your submitted application documents.

5 ) JOB OFFER

After all the previous stages, a successful applicant will receive a verbal and written offer from the company. The onboarding process and schedule, as well as any other pre-employment requirements to comply with, will be further discussed should the applicant accept our offer.

For our interns, they are always provided with a monthly allowance of PHP15,000
